Places to visit in Udaipur, worth a whole day each
Come hungry. Leave slowly.
Udaipur food and cafés run on lake time: a kachori breakfast in the old city, a thali that refuses to end, chai on the ghats and dinner on a rooftop while the City Palace lights up.
Why the City of Lakesnever feels like a checklist

Lakes that set the pace
Lake Pichola has been here since 1362 and Fateh Sagar since 1687, and the city still plans its day around them: morning walks on the ghats, a boat out at sunset, chai wherever there's a view. Nobody rushes in the City of Lakes. You'll stop trying to by day two.

Palaces people still live around
Maharana Udai Singh II founded Udaipur in 1559, and the City Palace kept growing for four centuries after that. Here heritage isn't locked behind glass. It's the backdrop to school runs, wedding bands and the evening bell at Jagdish Temple.

Hospitality with a personal touch
Ask a boatman for the best sunset spot or a shopkeeper for directions and you'll probably walk away with a story, a recommendation and an offer of chai. It's the kind of welcome that turns a weekend into a habit.

Udaipur weddings: a city built for grand entrances
Lakeside palaces, marble courtyards and Aravalli sunsets have made Udaipur one of India's best-known destination-wedding cities. Think palace hotels on Lake Pichola, island venues like Jagmandir and heritage halls around the lakes, the kind of settings that make the photographer's job easy.

Udaipur, dressed up for a festival
Gangaur, Holi at the City Palace, Diwali on the ghats. Festival dates follow the Hindu calendar and change every year, so check before you plan.
What's new around the lakes
Openings, road closures, festival updates and the odd bit of city gossip worth knowing before your trip. We've been sharing Udaipur news on Instagram for about three years; this is where the longer versions live.
Put your brand in front of people who love Udaipur
Cafés, hotels, event organisers and brands work with us on content that feels like it belongs on the feed, not like an ad. We know the city, we know the audience, and we're picky about what we put our name to.

Before you pack: quick answers
The questions friends ask us most before a trip to Udaipur, from the best time to visit to how our free itinerary planner works.
October to March is the sweet spot: warm days, cool evenings and clear views across the lakes. April to June gets properly hot, often past 40 °C. July to September is monsoon season, when the Aravalli hills turn green and the lakes fill up, and plenty of locals will tell you that's the prettiest Udaipur gets.
Two full days covers the essentials: the City Palace, a boat ride on Lake Pichola, Jagdish Temple, an evening at Fateh Sagar and sunset at Sajjangarh. With three or four days you can slow down, catch the Dharohar folk dance show at Bagore ki Haveli, visit Shilpgram, and add a day trip to Kumbhalgarh Fort or the Ranakpur Jain temple.
Fly into Maharana Pratap Airport at Dabok, about 22 km east of the city. Trains pull into Udaipur City railway station, and good roads link Udaipur with Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Jodhpur if you'd rather drive.
Very much so. Boat rides, the fountains at Saheliyon ki Bari, the Vintage Car Museum, the ropeway up to Karni Mata temple and evening walks along Fateh Sagar keep every age group happy, and most of the old-city sights sit close to each other, so nobody gets dragged too far.
